Negative Temperature Coefficient Thermistor (I)

NTC thermistor is a common temperature sensor in our life, which is popularly used in automobile, home appliance, and other fields.
NTC is the abbreviation of Negative Temperature Coefficient, which refers to semiconductor material or components with a large negative temperature coefficient. NTC thermistor is the thermistor with negative temperature coefficient. The NTC thermistor has manganese, cobalt, nickel, copper and other metal oxides as its main materials, which go through ceramic process. These materials have semiconductor properties, since they are completely similar to germanium, silicon and other semiconductor materials in conducting mode. When the temperature is low, the quantity of charge carrier (electrons and holes) of these metal oxides materials is small, so the resistance of these materials is high; when the temperature increases, the quantity of the charge carriers also increases, so the resistance decreases. The normal change range of NTC thermistor at room temperature is 100~1,000,000 ohm, and the temperature coefficient is between -2%~-6.5%. NTC thermistor has wide appliations, such as temperature measurement, temperature control, as well as temperature compensation, etc.

Evaluation board of Peltier controller

Based on thermoelectric cooler (TEC), Peltier controller is designed for controlling temperature of laser system, EDFA, instrument sensors, etc. Peltier controller has compact size, high efficiency, low noise, high accuracy and some other advantages. In order to use Peltier controller conveniently, evaluation board is built, which is made of a complete tuning and function circuit. The following is the photo of evaluation board.

Peltier controller evaluation board is utilized to set the limit of output current, realize harmonic compensation network and set the internal operating temperature. There is an LED used to indicate the TEC temperature. What’s more, it provides many connections to connect external components and instruments. There are many kinds of Peltier controllers and corresponding evaluation boards in our company (ATI). Take TECA1-5V-5V-D and corresponding TECEV104 evaluation board as an example. TECA1-5V-5V-D is located in the center of the TECEV104 to measure the voltage of all pins by detecting the connecting holes located on the left and right of the module socket.

Suface Mount Inductor Kits from ATI

An inductor is a passive electronic component, which is an important part in present electronic design. The inductor stores energy in the form of a magnetic field. SMT inductor is a very tiny component, which it's not easy to store and keep. SMT Inductor kits , designed and produced by ATI, provides a solution for storing surface mount inductors.
There are various values and quantities of inductors in the inductor kits, and all the inductors are from renowned inductor manufacturer, such as TDK, Viking, etc. thus, you can trust the quality of the inductor in the inductor kits.

Peltier controller of ATI

Based on thermoelectric cooler (TEC), Peltier controller (TEC controller) is designed by ATI (Analog Technologies, Inc.). Peltier controller released by ATI has compact size, high stability, high reliability, high accuracy, long service lifetime, etc. It is 100 % lead (Pb)-free and RoHS compliant. There are many kinds of Peltier controllers in our company, TECA1-XV-XV-D series, ATEC24V10A-D series, ATEC24V10A series and so on. The following is the Physical photo of Peltier controller.

Peltier controller can be utilized to drive TEC with high stability, short response time, high efficiency and low cost. Because of compact size, there is no need of heat sink. Peltier controller has been widely used in temperature controller of EDFA, laser module and instrument sensor. 
In order to use Peltier controller conveniently, we design and produce TEC controller evaluation board. The Peltier controller can be inserted in the above of the evaluation board. It can be used to debug compensation network to match thermal load features. In addition, it can minimize the errors of loop response time and dynamic temperature track, so as to maintain the stability of the control loop.

Inductor Kits in ATI

SMT Inductor kits are designed and produced by Analog Technologies, Inc. It has been sold in US and overseas market for over 20 years with nearly 100% good feedback. 
This inductor kit has been improved in some aspects such as compartment lid. The original inductor kit has square compartment lids and doesn’t leak large-size components, such as 1206 or larger, but would leak small size parts; the improved one has round lids and doesn’t leak components even down to 0402. There is one top cover that holds down compartment lids from opening up during storage and transportation. There is a foam pad inside the top cover, which can keep all the coverlets closed when the top cover is closed and locked. We are doing our best to improve and optimize our inductor kits all the time.
Inside the inductor kits, there are 128 individual compartments, which holds a certain amount of inductors of a certain value. All the inductors in the inductor kits come from renown manufacturers. Refilling is allowable and easy.

Temperature control of Peltier controller

Thermoelectric cooler (TEC) is solid thermoelectric effect. Comparing with traditional cooling method, TEC has obvious different features, simple structure, no moving parts, no vibration, no wear, high reliability, long service lifetime, etc. What’s more, TEC starts fast and it is flexible to control TEC. The following is the physical photo of TEC.

Based on TEC,Peltier controller is built to control temperature, as shown in Figure 2. Because of compact size, there is no need of heat sink in Peltier controller. It has been widely used for temperature controller of the EDFA, laser module and instrument sensor, etc. This module provides users with multiple interfaces to set target body temperature, i.e. set-point temperature.Peltier controllerhas these functions: thermistor T-R curve linearization, temperature measurement and monitoring, temperature control loop status indication, TEC voltage monitoring, power up delay, and shut down. It is very convenient for users to use Peltier controller. We can also customize a specialized Peltier controller for users.

ATI Peltier Controller TEC5V6A-D

Peltier controller is an electronic module which is designed for regulating the thermal load temperature. By using a Peltier module, the temperature of the thermal load can be increased or decreased, which depends on the current direction going through the two terminals of the TEC. Peltier controller can regulate the temperature of the thermal load with high efficiency and accuracy.
Here is a popular Peltier controller in US and global market, TEC5V6A-D. This Peltier controller comes with a 90% efficiency. The maximum output current is 6A, and the maximum output voltage is VPS-0.3V. This Peltier controller has a high stability low noise 3.0V voltage reference which is used for setting the desired object temperature by using a Potentiometer or a DAC. This reference can be used by an ADC, and the measurement error will be independent of the reference voltage, resulting in a more accurate measurement.
There are two versions for this Peltier controller, TEC5V6A-D and TEC5V6A-DA: 
For TEC5V6A-D, TEMP=Off when SDNG=0 
For TEC5V6A-DA, TEMP=On when SDNG=0
Users can choose a proper version for their design.
